Q: Question about long-term sustainability and customer communication

I’m very excited about your accounting platform and what it offers. However, I previously purchased an accounting product through AppSumo that shut down without any warning. The company (Akounto) ceased operations, Soniya Malik the CEO became unreachable, and I unfortunately lost a full year of my business accounting data.

Because of that experience, I’m cautious and would like to ask:
Do you have a plan or policy in place to proactively inform customers if the long-term sustainability of your product were ever at risk?
Additionally, would customers be given sufficient notice and tools to export their data in such a situation?

A: Hi Icharbonneau,

We definitely will not shut down with no notice to our customers. We have thousands of customers on our platform already and we understand how critical our platform is to all our customers. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Our platform already allows customers to export their data. So creating backup copies of your own data is not an issue.

I am sorry to hear that another platform shutdown so suddenly. I hope we can reassure you that we are making sure our platform is economically viable in the long term.

We are already profitable and so are not under any financial pressure or need to shutdown because of a short run rate. Please send us an email any time and we can provide the support you need.

Again, I understand the mess you are left with after having no access to your financial data. We take this very seriously and would not leave any of our customers in that situation.
