Q: Cold retention
Why is the cold retention period so bad for the plans? Your builder plan comes with 24 months of cold retention and I would expect that for any plan you offer here. Anything else is pretty much useless.

Feb 20, 2026A: Hey there! Grain's pricing is based on MAUs (monthly active users) with unlimited events. Most other solutions will limit events per month or uses "event count" as their billing metric.
Our event per user average is 40 (monthly). Which means an average visitor will send about 40 events to Grain in a month.
So even for 50K MAU limit on Tier 1, a site using limits will log about 2M events every month.
Considering this is a lifetime deal and Grain provides a ton of tools (heatmaps, session timelines, custom events). Which is why we capped Tier 1 at 3 months because that equals to 2M events limit (most tools would only allow about 15-40k page visits for that, and page visits are not a billing metric for Grain). This is important for sustainability, all the tools inside such as Kai (AI assistant), behavior analytics, snapshotting, heatmaps, auto goal suggestion, and mission control are expensive to operate relying on heavy computation on our end and some external APIs.
If you'd like to see different limits (or a different billing metric), I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Cheers!
I can't tell you how to structure your revenue. I only know as software developer a lot of users don't actually use software they buy in a sale. As user I want anything as cheap as possible. For my reports I want at least a year of data.

Would be an interesting feature to see S3 storage for "BYOS" for people who want perpetual data buckets (not for Kai to review, but to have their own access to it).
