Q: Transition from Wave

I’ve used Wave for years, managing 2 businesses with 1 being my personal books. I’m hesitant to switch since everything works well, I have historical data, and my COA's are dialed in. I saw you allow two licenses but want to import an exact copy of my current setup and COA—not AI guesses that require manual fixes. When might this be possible?

Wave doesn’t handle PayPal well: their system tries to guess expense categories but creates duplicate expenses because it doesn’t recognize that checking debits are PayPal transfers (since PayPal puts the merchant name on the bank debit.) Also, PayPal income CSVs don’t have a line item for fees, so I have to add those manually. I also use PayPal Credit Card for business expenses, which adds confusion. I'd love to be free the tedium.

In Tabby's current state, how well can it replace Wave?

A: Hi Jaya,

We're focusing on transition/migration feature right now as a high priority item. While we don't have a formal transition/migration tool yet, we're developing one for QuickBooks and Wave. Expect it in 2-3 weeks. For Xero and Zoho, it'll be ready two weeks after that. Email us at support@usetabby.com, and we'll notify you when it's available. This tool will handle your needs, like Chart of Accounts and historical transactions. Our AI will learn from past transactions to categorize future ones the same way as you wanted.

Tabby supports PayPal through our connection, and it works well. Give it a try.

We're confident Tabby will replace Wave and save you more time. Our AI automation is something Wave lacks. Users find Tabby easier and more automated than Wave.

Thank you. I was all set to buy two Tier 3's last night, one for business and one for personal. After reading you answer another question here, one limitation stopped me. Not being able to customize categories on Sumo Pro Plan, like recurring payment users on Pro can. Need to have the COA categories meet my needs for P&L's and tax prep. Hope that feedback is useful.

So the feature to customize chart of accounts exists but Sumolings are just locked out of it? That doesn’t bode well for future features.
