Our testing team found Zavi to be a capable and practical voice-to-text tool, particularly on Mac. Dictation was fast and accurate, converting natural speech into polished text by removing filler words, correcting grammar, and organizing longer thoughts. Magic Wand was especially useful for rewriting, shortening, and translating selected text without switching applications. The interface was clean, shortcuts were customizable, and the History feature made previous outputs easy to retrieve. During the testing stage, we encountered some compatibility issues, inconsistent advanced functionality, and occasional problems with text insertion and hands-free dictation. The Partner subsequently reported fixes to several of these issues, improved explanations of the available processing modes, and narrowed the product's focus to dictation, editing, translation, and supported AI integrations rather than the broader agent-style capabilities initially demonstrated.
While the core functionality performed well, some concerns remained around overall product maturity and installation trust. During our initial checks, the Windows installer triggered a small number of antivirus detections and lacked a verified signing certificate. These findings do not necessarily indicate malicious software, but they warrant clarification and resolution.
Overall, Zavi demonstrates clear everyday value as a voice-writing and editing tool, even if its broader AI assistant ambitions remain less established. Based on the functionality we tested, we consider it a useful product with room for further refinement. These observations reflect the version available during our testing period and may not represent its current state.
