Q: Why don’t we allow “Bring Your Own Keys ( BYOK )”
A: Zipchat uses mutliple models from different companies in different places of the AI pipeline and our system is specifically optimised for the the concrete model we’re using at the time. Adding BYOK support will hurt our flexibility we would have to get the customer to create accounts in multiple providers and make sure they are up to date with our provider listReal world examples: The customer will need to provide keys from OpenAI, Antrophic, Perplexity etc and if we decide to add Gemini in the mix we would have to block their chat untill provide their keyWe would also have to handle all possible issues from a key being rejected, billing failures etc
Q: How are you going to pay the bills in the long run if we only pay once but we can use the AI forever?
