Q: Expectations on local voice dictation

I’ve been using Wispr Flow, and it has been excellent. It corrects my mistakes, understands what I’m trying to say—even when I stumble—and responds quickly. I speak, and the text appears almost immediately. I assume the speed is because the audio is processed in the cloud, but I’m not certain.

The main downside is the subscription cost.

I’ve been testing OpenWispr and Amical to avoid the subscription fee. However, I’ve noticed significant drawbacks in both speed and accuracy. I’m not sure whether this is related to the dictation processing locally on my phone, a Pixel 10 Pro.

I was excited to try Acti until you mentioned that it uses the phone’s voice-dictation process.

Should I expect Acti to provide an experience comparable to Wispr Flow, or will it be more similar to OpenWispr?

A: Hi sison2466, I understand why speed and getting the intended wording right matter to you. Our AI features run online, but I need to confirm the dictation path on Android before saying which steps use your phone or the cloud. I also don’t have a verified comparison with Wispr Flow, OpenWispr or Amical, so I can’t promise equivalent speed or accuracy on your Pixel 10 Pro.
