Q: Categorizing and tracking internal transfers

Does the SimpleFIN bank feed integration allow me to categorize and track internal transfers like owner's draws, or is it strictly for tracking flat business expenses?

A: Hello! SimpleFIN imports outgoing transactions from the bank account you choose as expenses. You can then open each one under Transactions > Expenses and set its category, including custom ones like "Owner's draw" or "Transfer", to track them separately. If you take draws or move money from a separate account, connecting only your expense account keeps them out entirely.

I'd love to hear how you'd like transfers and draws handled, and we can support it in our next release. Send us a quick email at contact [at] invoiless.com and I'll follow up with you. 🙌

As a business owner, manually reclassifying every owner's draw or personal transfer from an expense category to an equity/draw account is time-consuming and prone to human error, especially since they default to expenses. Could you please prioritize adding a Rule Engine or Transaction Mapping Automation feature in an upcoming release?

Specifically, users need the ability to set conditional rules based on bank memo fields, descriptions, or specific payees so that recurring transfers and owner's draws automatically categorize correctly upon sync, keeping profit and loss reports accurate without manual item editing.

Came here to say the same thing. If bank feeds dump every outflow into generic expenses without rule-based mapping for owner's draws, the automation loses its value. Nobody has time to manually edit line items.
