I wanted an AI dictation - accurate, no subscription & private

So I built Rhino.

Transcription runs on device with Whisper and Parakeet.

The AI cleanup that fixes filler words and dropped syllables also runs on device.

Turn off Wi-Fi and the whole thing still works, which is the test I use to know it is telling the truth. There is no account, no login, and no telemetry. You hold Fn, you talk, you release, and text shows up where your cursor is.

Here is the honest part. Rhino is new. Version 0.1.0 shipped on August 11, 2026, and I have already pushed three updates since.

It does one thing well and it is not trying to be a meeting notetaker or a podcast editor. If you want a mature product with a decade of edge cases handled, this is not that yet. If you want fast private dictation from someone who ships fixes the same week you report them, and you want it for less than a coffee, that is exactly what this is. I read every email that comes in. If Rhino gets something wrong for you, tell me and it goes on the list.
