Transaction details not visible

My first step after setting up Tabby with my bank was to categorize my expenses. It took me all of 30 seconds to discover that half the transactions (all of which were quite recent, and synced electronically) were missing essential transaction details. This missing info was true even for Paypal transactions (in spite of the fact that Paypal includes the vendor details on all their transactions) and linked bank accounts (ACH transfers to pay my regular contractors).

There were no details on the website on how to access the missing bank info. As much as I hate Quickbooks, it captures all of these details, making categorization relatively quick. As of now, Tabby would require me to painstakingly correlate dozens of payments each month with my bank ledger. Needless to say, this defeats the purpose of an accounting app.

As the record-keeping function was the main function I needed it for, I requested a refund thru AppSumo. Best of wishes to Tabby for future development.

Really wanted to love it, but have reservations

I really wanted to love Tabby. I purchased the third tier for one company and was planning on purchasing another subscription for a second company. However, after a thorough review, I have some serious reservations:

Pros:
1. Easy to setup
2. Intuitive
3. Fast
4. User-friendly
5. Convenient

Cons:
1. You can’t drill down into the transaction when viewing transactions report

2. It’s super annoying that I can’t delete Domino’s, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, 7-Eleven, Walmart, Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Publix, Nissan, etc. from the list of vendors (they’re locked for some reason). I haven’t purchased from any of these vendors. I should have control of deleting information I don’t want in my own company’s data. It feels like an advertisement for these vendors.

3. Vendors I have paid do not appear in the list.

4. You can’t change the account numbers in the chart of accounts or create your own groupings.

5. You can only view 10 transactions on the page. This is a huge waste of time – I’d rather be able to choose how many transactions I can see on a page (i.e. 25, 50, 100, etc.)

6. Help Center is in not developed yet. I conducted simple searches, such as “opening balance” and “chart of accounts” and nothing was found.

7. There’s no way to update your communication preferences in your account settings. (besides SMS and email notifications)...or update your communication preferences in your account settings. I was unable to find the “do not sell or share my personal information” link on their website as mentioned in their privacy policy.

8. It’s a privacy nightmare. Unless you opt-out using opt-out tools, your data will be used for advertising and retargeting. Be sure to read their privacy policy and make sure you’re comfortable with where data is shared, how long it’s shared and how it’s used. For example, Section 18.7: “Sharing: We may “share” personal information with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, which may be considered a “sale” or “share” under CCPA/CPRA.” Plus, who knows how AI is using your data.

I'll probably request a refund unless some of these issues are addressed.

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on Tabby. We really appreciate your detailed feedback and are committed to using it to make Tabby even better. Let me address each of your points:

1. Drilling Down on Reports: You can currently drill down on the balance sheet and P&L reports to see detailed transactions. We're working on adding this feature to the expense report, and it...

Intuitive AI Bookkeeping That Simplifies Expense Management

Tabby AI offers an impressively clean and straightforward interface that makes day‑to‑day bookkeeping feel far less intimidating. The platform is easy to navigate, and the AI features are intuitive, especially when it comes to categorizing expenses — a task that can otherwise be time‑consuming and error‑prone. With Tabby AI, many of those decisions feel almost effortless.

My only suggestion would be the addition of a dark mode. It would make longer sessions much easier on the eyes and provide a more comfortable experience for users who prefer working in low‑light environments.

Overall, Tabby AI is a strong, user‑friendly tool with smart automation that genuinely simplifies bookkeeping

Hi, thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that Tabby makes categorizing transactions a breeze, in fact this is one of our signature features, compared to other similar softwares out there, ours is much faster and more accurate.

And noted about the dark mode. Our mobile app has a dark mode, but we will look to bring this to web app as well.

Nice App

Currently using the bank account draining Quickbooks. We don't need most of Quickbook's features, yet still need to pay constantly increasing monthly fees.. Quickbooks is about to lose a customer because Tabby pretty well does everything we need and the AI is a nice bonus that actually works.

It will get even better once they integrate Canadian tax codes, addresses etc.. It has some bugs, one serious one is to login, they use just your registered email to send you an OTP code, trouble is a lot of the times the OTP email with your code never arrives even after clicking resend code many times, very frustrating!. Tabby, if you're reading this, allow login with an email and password for quick access with form fillers and leave 2 Factor and OTP as an option for those who want it.

Hopefully Canadian integration and bugs get addressed sooner than later.. Stop paying monthly fees and get Tabby before the LTD ends.

Hi, thank you for the thoughtful feedback. You pretty much read our mind. From day one when we set out to launch Tabby, we thought about all the problems QuickBooks has even after so many year in the market. It’s clunky, hard to learn and constantly raising prices without much innovation. This is exactly what we are solving with Tabby.

And trust me, you are very early, Tabby has so much more...

Fantastic Replacement For Bench Or Kick

TLDR: If you've been eying this deal but haven't pulled the trigger yet, here's my final take 👇

It may be ugly (for now), but it gets the job done perfectly. And for most US businesses, it's worth every penny.

And here's the longer story:

When I read the reviews of Tabby I was skeptical at first.

And my first impression was that this tool was vibe coded.

But Kick.co was charging me ~$200/mo for the same service.

So I decided to give it a shot and bought the Tier 3 plan.

After using it for a few days, I've been pleasantly surprised.

Even bought a second Tier 3 plan so I can use it for my second business.

First impressions:
1. Direct Bank Connection — Saves me a TON of time manually importing from statements. Just as good as Bench / Kick which is nice.
2. Auto Categorization — Needs a little bit of feedback, but once trained it's great. Uses the same logic/setup as Kick so it was super familiar for me.
3. Reporting — CPA Grade reporting is fantastic for taxes & accounting. This is going to save my tax team a ton of time + help me file on time.
4. Support — Asked for help and got a reply in < 24 hrs from the founder which was great. Not common to get that speed/level of support on most Appsumo deals.
5. Multiple Accounts — Lets me connect multiple business bank accounts. Great because we use a profit first model with multiple accounts. Keeps tabs on all of them automatically.

Some drawbacks I'm noticing:
1. New To SaaS — Can tell this team is new in the software game. As someone who's worked in SaaS a lot of the design/layout choices are a bit confusing. Many things take more steps/clicks than I'd like. But once they get a good designer on staff and this will be easily solved.
2. Manual At First — Manually categorizing at the start does take a bit of time. But once you set the categories it gets them pretty consistently after. Front end loaded effort but worth the time.

If you're on the fence, I definitely recommend giving it a shot and tinkering with it for a few days.

Hi,

Thank you for such a thoughtful and honest review. We really appreciate you giving Tabby a shot, especially coming from tools like Bench and Kick. Hearing that it’s already saving you time (and a lot of monthly cost 😀 ) means a lot.

You’re spot on with your feedback. We’re still early as a product and as a SaaS team, and design/UX polish is something we’re actively improving. The manual...
