I’ve used QuickBooks for years, and honestly, it always felt like more than my business needed. As a simple service-based business owner, the interface was more than what I needed, and the ongoing subscription costs kept climbing.

For quite some time, I searched for an alternative. I tried a few tools, read reviews, and kept hoping to find something that felt simpler, cleaner, and more aligned with how I actually run my business.

That’s when I came across Tabby here on AppSumo. I was excited but cautious, so I watched from the sidelines for a bit and read feedback from others. Eventually, I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did.

Yes, there’s a tiny learning curve, and no platform is perfect. What stood out to me, though, was the responsiveness of their support team. When I reached out with a question, they replied quickly and shared that they would look into my issue. Seeing their roadmap, especially plans to deepen Stripe integration for invoicing, makes me feel confident about where this product is heading.

If you’re a small business owner debating whether to switch, I can say this: for me, it’s been a refreshing move. Tabby feels lighter, more manageable, and it will save me meaningful time going forward.

Throughout the year, I tried a few different bookkeeping softwares just to get myself more organized. I tried QuickBooks and Wave.

With QuickBooks, it felt overwhelming. It was hard to find things and there was just too much to learn. With Wave, it felt more manual. There wasn’t much AI automation, so I was still doing a lot of the work myself.

When I tried Tabby, it was honestly refreshing. It was the first bookkeeping software that didn’t feel complicated. I run a service-based business, so I mainly needed something to send invoices, track my expenses with a simple tool, and occasionally upload receipts for things I paid in cash.

As tax season approached, I was really on the hunt for something better, and I’m so happy I found Tabby. I truly think what they’re offering is incredible value.

I saw some of the previous negative reviews, and I think people are being a little too harsh. You have to remember QuickBooks has been around for 30 years. Tabby has been around for less than a year, and they’ve already made a lot of progress with their recent updates.

I genuinely think they’re going to take over, and I’m really happy to be an early customer.

I’ve been a long-time QuickBooks user, and one thing I really hated about QuickBooks is how slow it is. Things take forever to load, moving around and navigating feels clunky, and there’s just so much going on.

So I thought, let me give Tabby a try and see if it’s better.

I’ll tell you this, pulling up a report like a P&L takes seconds. And overall, navigating the transaction table is super smooth.

I’m really excited for the QuickBooks migration feature that’s coming because that’s when I plan to migrate all my previous years’ data. Right now, I’ve just started using Tabby for 2026, but I can already tell they’re doing really well for such an early-stage company.

The product they’ve built is solid. Bookkeeping software can’t just be vibe coded — it’s complex. Debits and credits have to balance. I actually have an accounting background, so I understand how serious that is. This is a big undertaking, and I’m impressed with where it already is.

I know they have a lot more coming based on their roadmap, and I was honestly shocked that a software this good is being offered at this price. The lifetime deal especially is incredible.

People just need to give them a little patience. And whenever I had a few minor issues, their support team was fantastic. They responded quickly and got everything sorted out.

That makes me feel even better about using them long term.

I decided to give Tabby a shot despite some negative feedback, and I’m so glad I did. It’s exactly the bookkeeping solution I was looking for as a small e-commerce owner.

While there were a few minor bugs early on, the developer is incredibly responsive and releases updates constantly, which has significantly improved the experience. The AI categorization is the real standout—after a bit of manual training at the start, it’s now handling my recurring transactions automatically.

Also, a note on the negative reviews from international users: the roadmap clearly states that full support for businesses outside the U.S. is still in development. It’s unfair to penalize a small business for a feature they haven't officially launched yet. Don't let those reviews keep you from a great tool!

I own a U.S. based property management business and honestly, although some aspects of the UI were initially buggy as it relates to accessing different workspaces via the same email, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The UI could use a little polishing but it definitely does what it is supposed to do and is already a tremendous help at preparing my income taxes for 2025. The AI automation is nice and definitely helps save on time as it learns your transactions. My book keepers have been able to easily upload my statements without and problems. I am debating moving from WaveApps to save on recurring costs but I want to wait because it's not uncommon for some of these lifetime deals to go out of business and it still does not have the invoicing capabilities yet.
