would be great if they finished building it !

the basic functionality is great

but a big but is the GDPR

a simple check box was requested in jan 21 to be added so users check the box before hitting the send button

to agree to term and conditions

much need update that they said they would implement but never did.

was going to purchase for a business user that I know but without the check box then I can not recommend for business use in eu.

Providing checkboxes and unique TOS for every user along with the abilities in the dashboard to verify all of that was a feature requested by one person so we opted to build our bulk email campaigns which helps thousands of users.

THE ORIGINAL VID POP UP COMPANY!

Originally purchased in 2021, this company was one of the first to allow pop-ups like this and unlimited use. I'm happy with my purchase; it has always been a wow factor for my clients who enjoy replying to me with the video. I have personally seen all of the updates and the time this company has put in. The UX isn't super flashy, but that's not a deal breaker. I would rather have a sustainable product than a flashy product that disappears like a few other companies who send the sad farewell emails. Warm Welcome is STILL HERE and can only get better. Thanks for coming back to AppSumo!

Warm Welcome or Cold Rejection?

Since acquiring Warm Welcome, I have noted a significant lack of platform evolution over nearly five years. The user interface (UX) and backend architecture remain static. We continue to observe inconsistent email deliverability, even across properly configured and warmed domains. Furthermore, persistent video quality degradation, characterized by blurriness and latency issues, impacts core functionality.

Critical promised feature enhancements have not been deployed, and technical support responsiveness has frequently been inadequate. While the core concept is sound, the platform now appears largely obsolete compared to contemporary alternatives in the market.

Of particular concern is the founder’s public engagement with objective user feedback. Following a detailed, fact-based review of platform performance, the founder issued a response that was both dismissive and contained unfounded accusations, undermining the professional discourse. My review highlighted established issues without demanding recourse or offering personal critiques.

The founder’s reaction involved making unsubstantiated assumptions regarding my operational usage and framing legitimate product critique as a form of bad-faith conduct. This is anomalous within the SaaS ecosystem and raises serious concerns about internal customer relations protocols.

To be explicitly clear, my usage adheres strictly to appropriate domain warming and one-to-one communication protocols, precluding any form of platform misuse or spamming activity. The founder’s public assertions are factually incorrect and entirely unsubstantiated.

Constructive feedback should not be met with hostility. The manner in which the founder addressed legitimate, long-standing product deficiencies fundamentally erodes confidence in the product roadmap and the company’s respect for its user base.

🏴‍☠️ This user is a “Product Pirates” who likes to demand that founders build what he wants and then he and his fellow cronies lie about the business and try and hold businesses hostage with bad reviews. Notice how their review are rarely about what a product does and almost always about what they wish it did??? Hmmm 🤔

Since you can try the product for free it’s best to give it a shot and see...

A Tool With Potential That Hasn’t Evolved

I purchased Warm Welcome in January 2021 and have used it across multiple domains and client campaigns. Unfortunately, the product has not evolved in almost five years.

The UX and backend still look exactly the same as they did in 2021.

Email deliverability has remained inconsistent even on properly configured, warmed domains.

Video quality issues persist, with recordings often appearing blurry or laggy.

Several promised improvements never arrived.

Support has often been unresponsive.

The concept is good, but the platform feels largely abandoned compared to current alternatives.

What has genuinely shocked me, however, is the founder’s public response to user feedback.

After posting a factual, experience-based review, the founder replied with comments that were dismissive, accusatory, and belittling toward me as a customer. My review contained no personal remarks, no demands, and no unreasonable expectations. It simply highlighted long-standing issues that many users have observed for years.

Despite that, the founder responded by making false assumptions about my usage and by framing honest product feedback as some kind of bad-faith behaviour. That is not something I have ever experienced from a SaaS founder, and it raises serious concerns about how customer opinions are handled internally.

To clarify:
I have never used Warm Welcome for spamming or any misuse. My usage has always followed proper domain warming and one-to-one communication practices. The founder’s accusations do not reflect my actual behaviour and were made without any basis.

Feedback is not an attack.
Long-time customers pointing out real product issues should not be met with hostility or belittling remarks. When a founder responds to constructive criticism in this manner, it becomes very difficult to trust the product’s direction or the company’s respect for its users.

🏴‍☠️ You’re part of a small group of “Product Pirates” who like to demand that founders build what you want and then try and hold businesses hostage with bad reviews. Notice how you and your fellow pirates reviews are always about what a product doesn’t do and about what you wish it did??? Hmmm 🤔

Your biggest complaint was that your emails from your domain are getting marked as spam. Probably...

Big promises never kept

Bought Warmwelcome in 2021 and went a long way with it.
Recorded and sent hundreds of video messages.

Founder David Jay is one of a kind
and spreads love & happy feelings wherever he appears,
but no promises were kept
all along the way of almost five years since then.

About every 6 months I wrote a message or sent an video.
I used the support bubble on the still untouched website several times.

I even went into conversation with David and his team
and got answers:
"Thank you for your response!"
"Yes, we'll implement that."
"yes you'll get all these updates"

Thank you for your sincere messages,
but they're just words and nothing happens.

My compalints are these:

• It's impossible to remove Warm Welcome Branding on emails sent from the mobile app. Must be fixed!

• if you want to remove Warm Welcome Branding from messages in the desktop app, you'll have to set this up EVERY SINGLE TIME you send a message. If you're working with templates and want to send let's say a hundred WW-messages you'll have to dig into the settings for 100 times and unable the "Sent with Warm Welcome" logo message. SO ANNOYING!!

• The language of backend is english, which is fine. But every message sent comes with hard codes words I was promised to be able to translate a dozend times. These are the hard codes strings like the words: Reply to: / Send / Write a reply! / RECORD AUDIO OR DRAG & DROP / RECORD VIDEO OR DRAG & DROP / Write a reply! / Let us know who you are! / Name / Email / Send / Reply / Your reply has been sent! / Return back to video? / and of course the error messages of entry forms like: 'Name is required' / 'Email address is required'.

David personally [!] promised this several times.
Nothing happened since 2021.

Then the worst:
The Video quality.

• you might have latency or lag problems with the audio.
The audio might start later, end earlier or anything in between.
• The video quality on record is not what you get in return.
Your video will look blurry and unsharp.

Imagine what has happened to the video game since 2021
but Warm Welcome was on 1280 × 720p back then
and nothing !! has improved. No AI. Nothing new.
(Besides a bulk email feature I must admit –
that might work but looks like 2013 tbh.)

And it gets worse because videos are COMPRESSED
and show banding and other artefacts.
Yes, I know how hard a video business can be,
but trying to sell the same underdeveloped (cr) app
five years later is pretty … well name it yourself.

If you want to stand out in quality from competitors
using Loom or the like, you'll be embarassed and disappointed.

What I really love, love, love at Warm Welcome is the overall idea
and how easy it is meant to be.

But it doesn't perform well.

There was also a Chrome Extension which was
really well integrated into LinkedIn but it wasn't
nurtured and somewhen deprecated by Google.

Then you'll read about 'Teleprompter Scripts Library' as a feature
which is nowhere to find. Yes, you may store your own
teleprompter content but the promised skripts are just thin air.
Or maybe they're very well kept somewhere I can't find them.
Prove me wrong, David Jay & team.

Still, one more thing I'd ask for, if possible:
Every video email / page lands on a landingpage named
https://app.warmwelcome.com/widgets/2759c436-xxxxx
although we already can connect our own domain to send emails.

I would gladly buy another code to be able
to have my own domains landingpages.

Please, pretty please DJ & team as soon as the i8n wordings are done
and the video quality has been improved, will you make that happen?

I'll rave for you like Mr. Wonderful.

✌️
