Q: Any native Mac Swift app coming (that uses less resources)

Hi,

I’m a heavy user of text expansion tools (used TextExpander for years, currently on Typinator). Slashit looks super cool and I'm really interested in what you're building!

However, I noticed right after launching it that it’s an Electron app. While the CPU usage seems okay so far (I haven't even logged in yet), just starting the app spawns multiple helper processes and eats up a significant amount of RAM.

For an always-on utility, an Electron app is honestly a dealbreaker for me. I really prefer proper, lightweight Mac apps over wrapped web apps.

Any plans to build a true, native Swift version? I’m looking for something lightweight that doesn't hog resources, supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and ideally older macOS versions too.

I’d jump on this instantly if it were a native Mac app. Would love to hear your thoughts!

A: Thanks for asking, and we really appreciate your feedback.

At the moment, we don’t have any plans to build a native Swift macOS version in the near future. However, we understand your concern about resource usage, especially for an always-running productivity tool.

We’ll keep this as a feature request and consider it as we continue improving Slashit. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts — feedback like this helps us prioritize future development.
