Q: Currently Im unable to write @ (the at symbol) while im recording a video

Hey there, I’m not sure if this is a recent bug or something specific to my setup (both of my computers use a PT‑PT keyboard).

When I’m recording a video, my Alt key stops responding while ScreenToVideo is recording. This means I can’t record logins where I need to type an email address or other characters that require Alt+numbered key.

Can you help with this? Thanks.

A: Hey,
The app only intercepts the hotkeys that are defined in the “Hotkeys” tab from either Screen Recorder Quick Setup or Video Recorder Quick Setup, depending on whether you're using Record & Edit or Quick Record.
In general, these are usually combinations like CTRL or CTRL + ALT (mainly for things like drawing tools).
Other keys shouldn’t be affected during recording, so it’s worth checking...

Q: Saving

Does this save to only one folder or more than one folder? For example, if I use a competitor program, it will save the video to my desktop and a duplicate to a separate folder for the screen recorder program itself so I have to make sure to delete both videos (the original and the duplicate) every time or it will consume massive amounts of storage over a brief period of time. Does this download the recorded file to only one source or more than one?

A: The recorder saves the captured video to a single destination folder on your computer. Also, nothing is actually downloaded. The application works entirely locally, so the recording is written directly to the folder you selected.
When the built-in editor is used, the application copies the entire project/video to a local working folder used for video processing. This working copy is only used...

Q: Recording Screen

Can ScreentoVideo record Zoom webinars I want to rewatch, help me create courses from my own materials, or record YouTube videos as I watch them, or any other video source on my screen or for example if I want to play an MP3 on my screen and simply record that MP3 playing?

A: Yes. ScreentoVideo records whatever is displayed on your screen, so it can capture many different types of content as long as it is visible or playing on your computer.
ScreentoVideo records the screen area you choose along with system audio and/or microphone audio, so it can capture almost any content that is playing on your computer.
If you would like to test whether it fits your workflow,...

Q: Option to generate SOP

Is there an option to generate SOP or a guide just like Loom?

Feb 28, 2026

A: At the moment, ScreenToVideo does not yet offer an option to automatically generate an SOP or step-by-step guide similar to Loom. However, this is something we are actively working on.
The feature requires capturing additional metadata during recording (such as user actions) as well as implementing audio transcription, so it involves additional development work — but it is definitely on our...

Q: Picture in Picture

I watched the web cam tutorial on your website. When recording myself on top of a screen recording I see there are various options to record using a circle, ellipse, rectangle etc. But can I adjust the size of the, for example, circle that I appear in? And can I adjust the position during the course of the screen recording?

A: Yes, you can adjust both the size and the position of the webcam overlay in ScreenToVideo.
To control the size, you can use the Camera Format option to set the resolution of the camera stream. In addition, there is a Scale option that allows you to adjust how large the camera appears on the screen during the recording.
Regarding the position, you can use the Position option, which provides...
